General organization

The regular time, including your Bachelor Thesis, for completing your studies is six semesters. The study programme is organized in two phases:

In the orientation phase on the one hand basic knowledge in mathematics, statistics, language as well as law are taught. On the other hand, in the business as well as the economic lectures, the methodological and technical building blocks are laid for the profile phase and by this for a self-contained, scientifically oriented work.

The aim of the profile phase is to deepen the knowledge gained during the orientation phase. Some lectures or seminars are mandatory for all students. Furthermore every student can specialize in certain fields according to his or her own preferences.

In the business or economics programmes we differentiate between the following courses:

provide you with basic knowledge depending on your programme, introduce you to the subjects and results of research, point at future research fields and recommend relevant literature

are thought to apply general knowledge of a subject to specific problems. In seminars the students the students are expected to actively participate in the reprocessing of the so far gained scientific knowledge and the solving of open questions by presentations and discussions.

are meant as training and completing the theoretical knowledge. Through excursions the students shall gain insight into the requirements and the problem contexts of future fields of employment. Excursions can be absolved in order to adduce performance records.

Furthermore the choice of course offered by one of the neighbour faculties – law or social and cultural sciences – provides you with insights into the methods, the ways of thinking and working of another subject.

According to your own regional preference or interest you choose at least one foreign language and you will stay abroad for at least three months, either during your semester abroad or your intership.
